View the Longest Path on the Hand-offs Page

View the longest possible path of task duration between a task and a Finish task milestone on the Hand-offs page. You can show or hide longest path details and highlight the longest path on the page to assist in pull planning. See Longest Path Overview for more information.

To view the Longest Path on the Hand-offs page:

  1. In the object selector, select Project, select View Projects List, and then select a project name.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Tasks, and then select Hand-offs.
  3. Add at least one Finish task milestone for your phase of work:
    1. From the page, right-click a task, and then select Add Task Milestone After to add a task milestone to another task as a hand-off.
    2. Right-click on the milestone and select View Task Milestone Details to confirm milestone information, and then adjust if needed. For example, you have the option create additional Finish task milestones or to create additional hand-offs in the chain.
  4. (Optional) In the Plan By list, choose an option to group items on the board according to your view settings. If Plan By is set to None, items will not be grouped. See Configure Plan By Options.
  5. In the Actions menu, select Show Longest Path Details to display the following information beneath the Hand-offs page toolbar:
    • Start: The first task in the hand-offs chain.
    • Finish: The last task milestone in the hand-offs chain.
    • Longest Path: The longest duration in days, based on all possible deviations, that could take place during a phase of work.
  6. (Optional) Beside the Longest Path duration, select View to show or Hide to hide Longest Path Details.
