Configure FTE Settings for Resource and Role Usage on the Assignment List Page

Configure and enable full-time equivalent (FTE) settings for spread data on the Assignment List page. The working hours/time period represented in the FTE values are determined by the calendar associated to resources or role assignments. The designated FTE time period value provides a more accurate view of time units when switching to weeks, months, quarters, or years during planning checks. All configuration settings are saved with the view.

To configure FTE settings:

  1. In the object selector, select Project or Program, and then select a project or a program from the list.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Resources or Schedule, and then select Assignment List.
  3. Select the Layout menu, and then select Spreadsheet.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. In the Settings panel, on the FTE tab, configure the following sections:
    • Enable FTE: Select this option to enable FTE on the Assignments List page. You can also toggle FTE on or off from the lower toolbar in the Spreadsheet layout. Cost values are not affected by the FTE toggle.

Note: When enabled, this setting converts unit values to FTE in the spreadsheet, and Overallocation and Max Availability settings are disabled. To use Overallocation and Max Availability settings, disable FTE.

    • Calculation Method: Select a method to convert units to FTE values when FTE is enabled.
      • Use the time period calendar setting that matches the timescale selection: Maintains all existing time period settings for the assigned calendars.
      • Always use the Hours/Day time period calendar setting: Reflects daily effort regardless of the selected interval.
      • Use a custom value: Applies a custom value for pre-planning or estimations.
        • Adjust the field setting. This value will be used for all calculations regardless of timescale or calendar assignments. For example, if a user displays Month/Week, entering 50 would signify an average of 50 hours per week. If a user changes the timescale to Week/Day, they would likely update the setting to be 10 to represent 10 hours per day.
    • Custom Label: Enter a custom label that displays the desired abbreviation or representation for FTE when FTE values are shown.
  6. Select Apply.

Note: FTE cannot be used to calculate Totals. When FTE is enabled, Totals fields will not display data.
