Add a Manual Budget
Add manual budget line items to build the project or program budget. If any of your budget line items have a cost category of labor, equipment, or material, you can use the budget table to calculate the total costs by completing fields such as Labor Rate, Unit Rate, Quantity, Production Rate, and Hours. If you enter the total cost as a lump sum, the calculation fields will be cleared.
To add a manual budget:
- In the object selector, select a project or program.
- From the Main Menu, select Cost and Funds, and then select Budget.
- On the Budget page, select Add.
- In the new row, complete the following fields:
- ID: Enter a unique identifier for the budget line item or use the auto numbering feature.
- CBS Code: Select a CBS code for the budget line item, and select Select.
- (Optional) Cost Category: Select the cost category applicable to the budget line item, and select OK.
- Original Cost: Enter the planned cost of the budget line item. Cost can be entered manually or calculated if the cost category is labor, equipment, or material.
- (Optional) Labor Rate: Enter the cost per labor hour of the budget line item. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of labor.
- (Optional) Unit Rate: Enter the cost per Unit of Measure of the budget line item. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of equipment or material.
- (Optional) Quantity: Enter the expected amount of each budget line item needed to complete the required work. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of labor, equipment, or material.
- (Optional) Unit of Measure: Select the type of measurement used when determining quantity for the budget line item. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of labor, equipment, or material.
- (Optional) Production Rate: Enter the number of hours per unit of measure of the budget line item. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of labor, equipment, or material.
- (Optional) Hours: Enter the hours required to complete the budget line item. This field is only editable for budget line items with a cost category of labor.
- Select Save.
Tips
- If a budget line item has a cost category type of Labor, Equipment, or Materials, you can use calculation fields to calculate the Cost. The following formulas are used to calculate cost:
- Labor: Quantity multiplied by Production Rate.
- Equipment: Quantity multiplied by Unit Rate.
- Materials: Quantity multiplied by Unit Rate.
