Directly Allocate a Proposed Budget and Dates for Projects Within Budget Plan Scenarios on the Selection Analysis Page
As a budget planner, you can choose to link to the budget values and project dates as defined by the project manager, or you can propose different values.
From the Selection Analysis page, you can propose a total cost, but you cannot distribute the costs across the planning horizon. Use the Budget Planning page to distribute the costs.
To propose a budget and start and end dates for a project on the Selection Analysis page:
- In the object selector, select Portfolio, and then select View Portfolios List.
- Select a portfolio name.
- From the Main Menu, select Cost and Funds, and then select Published Views.
- In the table, select the name of the analysis view to open it on the Selection Analysis page.
- Expand a project to view the values entered by the project manager. Determine whether to link to these values or propose new values.
- To use the values entered by the project manager as a starting point, on the row with the project name, select Link to bring in the project manager's values, then select Unlink to edit those values.
- On the row with the project name, enter the proposed Total Cost for the project within the planning horizon.
Note: This amount appears in the Undistributed field until costs are allocated by time period, which must be done on the Budget Planning page.
- To enter the Start or Finish dates, select the field, and use the calendar selector to select a date.
Note: If you brought in the project manager's dates and costs and you change the dates, be sure to redistribute the costs per time period. Do this on the Budget Planning page. Review the Undistributed field to determine the amount of costs to be distributed. If there is an amount in parentheses, your distributed costs exceed the amount in the Total Cost field.
- Select Save.
