View Activity Details in the Tasks App

On pages in the Tasks app, select an activity name to view information about the activity, including displays general activity details and task counts by category.

To use this feature on the Work Plan page, the Tasks and Activities grouping option must be selected or the task plan must be open and set to Tasks and Activities view. On the Hand-offs page, the page must be organized by Activity. On the Task list page, the table must be grouped by Activity or the Activity column must be displayed.

You can also perform this task on the Task List page in the context of a program.

To view activity details in the Tasks app:

1. In the object selector, select ﱆ Project, select View Projects List, and then select a project name.
2. From the  Main Menu, select  Tasks, and then select Work Plan, Hand-offs, or Task List.

   Beside each activity name the total number of tasks displays. If no number displays, there are no assigned tasks.

3. Select an activity name to display the activity detail popover containing more task information. The activity detail popover displays project, WBS, and activity details, such as percent complete, duration information, and total float, as well as the following task counts:
   • Total Tasks: The total number of tasks assigned to the activity.
   • Unplanned tasks: Tasks without a due date.
   • Planned tasks, not completed: Tasks with a due date or committed date that are not complete.
   • Planned tasks, completed: Tasks with a due date or committed date that are marked as complete.
   • Planned tasks outside of activity dates: Tasks with a due date before the activity start date or after the activity finish date.
   • Tasks hidden by filters and security: Tasks that are not visible due to the planning period, enabled task filters or quick filters, or due to the current user's security settings. Tasks with assigned activities that occur within the planning period dates are visible.

     Note: The Unplanned tasks; Planned tasks, not completed; and Planned tasks, completed task counts contain the total number of tasks associated with the selected activity. The Planned tasks outside of activity dates and Tasks hidden by filters and security task counts contain tasks already counted in the other categories.

Tips

• Select the activity name when viewing activity details to go directly to the activity on the Activities page.
• Task counts are for public tasks only and do not include private tasks.
• When activity date indicators are enabled, the activity details display indicators for the Start and Finish dates of activities that have actual dates or assigned constraints. When the As Late As Possible constraint is selected, the constraint indicator is not displayed. See Configure Activity Date Indicators to enable indicators.
• To make Activity Start and Finish dates more prominent in the Task List Page table, you can configure Activity Start and Activity Finish dates as columns. Select  Settings, and then select Columns.
• To choose which task counts to display in the popover, select  Settings, and then select Task Counts.
