Creating a Custom General Form
You can create forms that users can access from the Forms app any time in an open idea, portfolio, program, or project. This is helpful if you want team members to see specific information that doesn't appear in any default views or pages.
Note: When a form contains Scenario Type fields for Content Type: Portfolio, the form cannot be used to replace the default Details page.
When a form has certain conditions for Content Type: Project, the form cannot be used to create a project or proposal. These conditions are:
- Mandatory fields are missing in the form.
- All fields are individually set as read-only.
- The form is set to read-only (even if fields are editable).
- The following fields are added to the form: Document Grid, Image, Scenario, or Cost UDFs.
To create a custom general form:
- In the object selector, select Workspace, select View Workspaces List, and then select a workspace name.
- From the Main Menu, select Workflows and Forms, and then select Form Design.
- On the Form Design page, select Add to open a new form in the Form Editor.
- In the Form Editor, create a form.
Make sure the Context Type value for the form is set to the object the form is for: Idea, Portfolio, Program, or Project. Add whichever fields you want users to be able to view in a single form. For example, you may create a form called "Project Dates" that includes every date-related field for projects.
Note: Restricted configured fields in portfolio, program, and project forms show as non-editable for users that do not have Edit selected for the Edit Restricted Configured Fields workspace privilege.
For more information on setting up forms and using the Form Editor, refer to the topics in the Form Design section. When you are satisfied with the form, select Publish, and then select Close to return to the Form Design page.
- (Optional) On the Form Design page (the page that lists all of the forms in the workspace), find the new form and select the Available on Forms List option so users can access the form.
After you select this option, users who view the object in the workspace will be able to access the form in the Forms app available in the app sidebar.
